LUISA HÖFS | Concertmaster
Luisa Höfs grew up in a family of musicians and was able to take the first steps into university as a junior student of Prof. Christoph Schickedanz before she began studying at the Stuttgart University of Music with Prof. Anke Dill.
She completed her Bachelor’s degree with top grades.
Luisa Höfs is passionate about the historically informed performance practice of early music. Christine Busch and Jörg Halubek gave her important inspiration.
Together with Anna Scholl and other baroque musicians, she founded the baroque orchestra “Café International” last year, where she occupies the position of concert master.
With her harpsichord partner Johannes Fiedler, she developed a large repertoire of works from the Renaissance to early classical music. As an intern at the renowned Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, she was musically supervised and taught by Thomas Hengelbrock. She tours with the ensemble performing on international concert stages and in festivals such as the Cologne Philharmonic, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Bozar Brussels and Salzburg Festival.
At the beginning of her studies, she founded the Pierrot Quartet with three fellow students. Just a few months later, the Quartet won a prize at the “Carl Wendling Chamber Music Competition 2012”. The four musicians played up to the semifinals of the 11th international Mozart competition of the Salzburg Mozarteum. The quartet was awarded a prize at the Lions Music Competition in Stuttgart then at the Orlando Competition Kerkrade. The four young musicians are currently studying in the chamber music class of Prof. Oliver Wille at the Hmtm Hannover. In addition to the string quartet, she is an active chamber musician, especially as member of a trio with her brother Tillmann Höfs. She is also a guest at festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
Luisa Höfs performs as a guest with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Internationale Bach Akademie Stuttgart, and the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover. Since 2017, she has been a permanent member of the Duisburg Philharmonic's first violin section at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein.
